Christophoros, hypatos and kommerkiarios of Hadrianopolis, indiction 2 = 823/824. Seal (Lead, 28 mm, 11.53 g, 12 h). Facing busts of Michael II, bearded, and Constantine, each wearing crown surmounted by cross and chlamys; below, indiction symbol and B. Rev. +X[PIC]/TOΦOP, VΠ, / S KOMMЄP[K,] / AΔPIAN[O/V]ΠOΛ... in five lines. Cf. Zacos/Veglery 283 (same design, but indiction A). A beautiful kommerkiarios seal bearing two imperial portraits. Some doubling and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.

Zacos/Veglery identify the imperial portraits as Michael II and Theophilos on epigraphical grounds.
